About the Project

AMM (Age Management Matters) responded to the growing need for age management skills among managers and supervisors in both private and public sector organisations, particularly in workplaces where physical or mental strain is high. As demographic shifts impact the workforce, organisations must adapt their practices to support employees of all ages. This project brought together a European partnership to raise awareness and build capacity in age management through knowledge sharing and professional development. Over the project lifespan, partners conducted study visits to Finland, Italy, and Austria, observing real-life examples of effective age management in action. These visits were complemented by thematic workshops that allowed participants – VET educators, trainers, and company advisors – to reflect, learn by doing, and co-create solutions. The project aimed to help companies and vocational education providers adapt to changing labour market needs by offering practical, tested tools and methods to support intergenerational workforces.

Project Outputs

The project delivered two key outputs. The first is a Collection of Good Practice Examples featuring over 25 real-world cases from partner countries where age management strategies have been successfully implemented. Each case is presented using a standardised format to make it easy for users to compare and apply relevant lessons to their own contexts. The second output is a set of Recommendations on Age Management Implementation, aimed at company managers, in-house trainers, and VET educators. These recommendations offer insights into the decision-making processes behind successful age management initiatives, highlighting the challenges encountered and the solutions applied. Together, these outputs serve as a practical guidance toolkit for those looking to foster age-inclusive workplaces and training environments.

Project Materials

All the materials created within this project are available to the public for free.

Set of recommendations is based on an in-depth analysis of real company examples, offering practical insights into decision-making and problem-solving in age management. It serves as a valuable resource for managers, in-company trainers, and VET educators looking to implement or teach effective age management strategies.

Web Resource/Downloadable Material

28 good practice examples of successful age management from companies across all partner countries, highlighting their impact on businesses and communities. Examples are suitable for human resource managers implementing age management measures in their companies, and may serve as a training tool for teachers, trainers and lecturers at various educational facilities.
