Training Programme for Teachers

What is this programme about?

Fostering systems thinking in education.

This 5-day programme helps teachers introduce systems thinking – the ability to see connections, cycles, and interdependencies – into everyday classroom practice. Instead of learning facts in isolation, students begin to understand how nature, society, and technology are linked, and how small actions can have big consequences.

The training shows teachers how to use stories, visual tools, experiments, and cross-curricular activities to help children grasp the concept of cycles (like the water cycle, food chains, recycling loops) and apply this mindset to real-life situations. By the end of the course, teachers will be ready to turn their classroom into a space where critical thinking, problem-solving, and sustainability awareness grow hand in hand.

Who is the programme for?

This training is designed for primary, secondary, and VET teachers who want to:

  • Help students move from memorising facts to understanding connections
  • Introduce sustainability as a way of thinking rather than a separate subject
  • Apply cross-disciplinary approaches linking science, geography, social studies, art, and mathematics
  • Support students in becoming curious, responsible problem-solvers
What will you learn from this programme?

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the basics of systems thinking pedagogy and how it supports learning
  • Use storytelling, diagrams, and role-play to make interconnections visible and memorable for students
  • Design classroom projects that demonstrate cycles in nature and society (e.g. food, energy, waste)
  • Apply inquiry-based learning to guide students in asking “what if?” and “what happens next?” questions
  • Encourage critical thinking by connecting local classroom examples with global challenges
  • Foster a mindset of responsibility and possibility: helping children see themselves as part of a larger system where their choices matter
Why is this programme valuable?

The programme aims to transform learning by stopping students seeing subject in isolation, and start connecting knowledge.  Hands-on and practical, the programme is full of classroom-ready activities and project ideas that make complex concepts simple. The programme focuses on future skills, and systems thinking is one of the most in-demand competences for the 21st century, linked to problem-solving and innovation.
