Training Programme for Teachers

What is this programme about?

Teaching sustainability through microlearning.

This 5-day programme gives primary school teachers practical tools and ready-to-use resources for teaching sustainability and circular economy concepts in a way that is simple, engaging, and effective. Instead of abstract theories, the course focuses on microlessons – short, story-based and visual learning units that fit easily into existing lessons across subjects. Teachers will learn how to use these bite-sized materials to inspire curiosity, spark discussion, and develop environmental awareness in children aged 6–11.

The training also shows how to adapt and design your own microlessons, making sustainability a natural part of everyday teaching. By breaking complex ideas into manageable learning moments, teachers will discover how to build long-term impact with small, consistent steps.

Who is the programme for?

This training is designed for primary school teachers who want to:

  • Integrate sustainability into their lessons without overloading the curriculum
  • Gain confidence in teaching complex topics like circular economy in a child-friendly way
  • Use digital and creative tools to engage students
  • Bring fresh, innovative teaching approaches into their classrooms

No prior experience with environmental education or digital tools is required – the programme is designed to support teachers of all backgrounds.

What will you learn from this programme?

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of microlearning and how it supports attention, curiosity, and retention in young learners
  • Confidently use and adapt ready-made microlessons (videos, infographics, activities) to different subjects such as science, mathematics, art, or social studies
  • Design their own microlessons and lesson plans using accessible digital tools (e.g. Canva, Genially, Kahoot, Padlet)
  • Integrate sustainability themes across the curriculum in a cross-disciplinary way
  • Apply practical classroom strategies that make circular economy tangible and relevant for children
  • Evaluate student progress using micro-certification and small-scale assessments
Why is this programme valuable?

Attendees of this programme will leave the training with a full set of microlessons and lesson plans you can start using the very next day. The course is hands-on, giving you time to design and test your own resources; these tool will enable you to teach children not just facts, but ways of thinking that prepare them for the challenges of tomorrow. The programme builds on tried-and-tested approaches that have already shown strong results in the classroom.
